  • When was the Party initially formed
    After transision to nonracial democracy, Mangope remained active in politics, forming the United Christian Democratic Party in 1997. Party support was confined to the North West province (which contained most of Bophuthatswana), and at its peak it held three seats out of 400 in the National Assembly. In 2014 he was overthrown by the then secretary general and now late Mavis Matladi. A statue of Mangope was erected outside the Bahurutse Boo Manyane tribal office in the North West's Motswedi (his birth Place) to honour him. Mangope died at his home in Motswedi, Lehurutshe on 18th January 2018 at the age of 94. Following his death, officials from the organization expressed wises to establish the statue as a tourist attraction since it was the last one standing of the late former president. The UCDP commemorates him and continues to share his legacy with the world.

  • Who is the current President of the party
    The United Christian Democratic Party is one of the political party in South Africa. It was founded by Lucas Manyane Mangope, leader of the Bophuthatswana Bantustan in 1997, as a successor to the Tswana National Party, and led by him for the first fifteen years of its existence. Mavis Matladi was elected as its leader on 29 January 2011. Isaac Sipho Mfundisi was elected president on Saturday, 7 January 2012. Our current president is Modiri Sehume

    As the ruling party in Bophuthatswana, the UCDP defied all the critics by merging as fabulously successful young country with no relative equal on the African continent. This is unmistakable to what has become of the North West Province since the current administration assumes control after the election. Standards and service delivery across the board have sunk to deplorable levels, with a little hope of any improvement while the current government remains in power.

    Our organization is funded through the contribution and support of well wishers, partners, organizations, projects and individuals from all works of life. We invite supoort initiatives, ideas and strategies that can help us carry out our party's objectives and vision. You can be one of our enlisted consistent supporter.
