Forum

Purpose


The UCDP National Management Forum is established to be a pool of volunteers who will:

  • recruit members
  • mostly be Activists and the Party’s foot soldiers at grassroots level
  • build the Party election machinery
  • be a leadership development school
  • be used to develop policy which will be adopted by the federal Council
  • Deal with other stuff that will be determined by the NEC

Membership

The party is currently going through a rebuilding stage. This means that there are no proper structures. This forum is therefore open to any person who consider themselves to be an Activist and a Volunteer of UCDP.

Leadership of this Forum

The forum shall elect its own leadership that will be representative of gender, geographical representation and other people who may add value in certain areas that the forum may deem fit.

The committee shall consist of the following office bearers: Chairperson, deputy chair, Secretary, deputy secretary, and 2 additional members who will be chosen by chairperson on a rotational period of 6 – 1 year. Rotational members will be for developmental purposes.

The Party President shall decide on the date of elections, inform members the management forum and nominate someone to preside over the election of office bearers.

The role of NEC

NEC members shall participate as ordinary members and resourceful individuals at the disposal of the leadership of the forum. They will not be required to drive this forum.

Objectives and responsibilities

The Management Forum shall:
  1. set membership recruitment target & discuss strategies
  2. be used as a Policy development platform
  3. develop party messaging and assist with brand development
  4. assist the NEC with organising election campaign, public meetings & media stunts
  5. work with the NEC and other internal groups to develop an integrated election campaign, and Discuss the party financial sustainability & make recommendations to the NEC
  6. organise activities designed to raise the profile of the Party and candidates
  7. develop a simple election campaign theme or concept that sums up why the Pirate Party exists and what it offers the electorate, and develop a plan for the election day, including
  8. During the election campaign the Forum must document its processes to assist with preparing an analysis of the campaign.
  9. Following the election, the forum must
  10. a) conduct an analysis of the election to highlight lessons and results, and
    b) compile and present a report to the membership for discussion and future reference.
